About The Red Cross

The Red Cross is a humanitarian organization dedicated to alleviating human suffering and improving the quality of life for people around the world. Its mission focuses on providing emergency assistance, disaster relief, and education in communities affected by crises.
The organization operates under the fundamental principles of neutrality, impartiality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.
Founded in 1863 by Henry Dunant and Gustave Moynier in Geneva, Switzerland, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement began as a response to the suffering caused by war. The movement expanded globally and now includes three main components: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The main areas of focus are:
- Providing immediate assistance and recovery support during and after natural and man-made disasters.
- Offering first aid training, emergency medical services, and health education.
- Supporting vulnerable populations, including refugees, internally displaced persons, and those affected by conflict.
- Managing blood donation and distribution to support medical needs
